German work group for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
The German work group for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (DACED) is incorporated in the German Society of Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS). It serves to enhance scientific exchange within basic scientific and clinical research in the field of IBD. The aim is to identify causes of IBD through coordinated and targeted research and to improve the treatment of IBD patients.
There is a close cooperation with the Competence Network Intestinal Diseases and the German IBD Study Group. Since 2011, German representatives of the European Crohn's- and Colitis Organization (ECCO) have been elected together with the Competence Network Intestinal Diseases.
Since 2014, the DACED has been integrated into the Competence Network Intestinal Diseases and provides two members for the board accordingly. With the integration of the DACED the non-clinical IBD research landscape is part of the competence network now, thus the subject of IBD is represented and covered by all areas of the competence network in Germany. The aim of this cooperation is to mutually support experimental and clinical work in the field of IBD beyond network boundaries, in order to strengthen research in this field and to improve the treatment of patients with intestinal diseases.
